Foothill Football Team Rules
Tryouts
All players that would like to play football at Foothill High School must try out for the team. In order to try out, a completed physical packet must be on file with the Foothill Athletic Office. Incoming students that did not try out but are transferring from a different zone or state will be given a one-day tryout before being granted the opportunity to play. Any exceptions will only be granted by the Head Varsity Football coach when advance notice is given.
Refunds will NOT be given for spirit packs and/or physical packet costs for those students that tried out but did not make the team.
School Rules
All players must follow Foothill School Rules and policies. Infractions that violate school rules may be considered inexcusable to the point of being released from the team at the discrection of Head Coach, V. Brown and school administration.
Attendance/Absences
All practices are MANDATORY!
Any absence from practice, whether excused or unexcused, will lead to that player missing the first quarter of the next game. If a players misses two practice between games, they will not be allowed to suit up for the next game.
Practices are extremely important to football and unexcused absences will not be tolerated. If a player accumulates 4 unexcused absences at any point during the season, then he or she will be released from the team. If a player expects to be absent, then he or she should coordinate with his or her coach so as not to have that absence unexcused. Four unexcused absences will always result in being released from the team and there will be no exceptions to this rule.
Grades
Student-athletes must maintain a 2.0 grade-point average at all times to be eligible to compete in any sport. Students that cannot maintain their grades must make accommodations to improve their performances in the classroom before participating in practices. Students are given an opportunity to speak with their teachers from 1:15 p.m. to 2:00 p.m. Any other arrangements that need to be made can be coordinated with the coaching staff so as not to miss any practice time.
